All contact teams require an active Level 200 Coach to be in compliance with USA Rugby. This course consists of online pre-course work and attendance at an in-person clinic.
The Level 200 Coach Certification is an introductory coaching clinic, which focuses on player welfare and the technical skills to play safely – specifically the tackle and the scrum. The assessment requires coaches to demonstrate effective coaching techniques, taught in the course. These techniques include teaching through games, technical skill development through progressions, and collaborative coaching.
This course is suitable for all experience levels and will likely comprise a mix of veteran players/coaches and those new to the game – all benefitting from a free exchange of ideas/experience.
NOTE: USA Rugby is implementing COVID precautions at courses. We will abide by the recommendations of both local health authorities and World Rugby's recommendations for running COVID-aware courses. All participants must wear a mask, and will be required to answer symptom questions before being allowed to attend.
Pre-Course Work:
The course requires you complete 3 online modules provided by World Rugby before attending the course. Please bring a print out of your Certificate of Completion for each course. If this pre-work is not completed, you may be turned away from the course. You will not be able to obtain L200 qualification without completing these modules.
Before Coaching a team, you will also need to be compliant with the US Center for SafeSport's requirements.
